Narasimha is an ancient cult deity of India . Historians believe that his worship began independently and was later absorbed into the pantheon of ‘dasavatars’ . Historically , depictions of Narasimha have varied from region to region . But what is common to all places is the extreme stylized depiction of the lion and his white complexion . Indian art has been a pioneer of ornamentation and stylization . This Narasimha in Bengali style of depiction is based on old manuscript paintings and terracotta temple sculptures but with a modern ferocious twist of its own . Bridging Gauda desha ( Bengal ) of the past with the present .
