In the warmth of Santiniketan’s Chaiti, the children of Patha Bhavan gather in quiet wonder, admiring a painted image of the Buddha by Mastermoshai Nandalal Bose, glowing like a some divine icon. Around them, kinnaras-half bird, half human-blur the boundaries between the real and the imagined, turning reverence into play. Above, two gandharvas offer muslin in homage as a young kinnara raises a chhatra.
In this mingling of children, celestial beings, and art, Chaiti becomes a living chaitya-where learning, devotion, and joy breathe together, and the painting stands as a symbol of awakened consciousness.
