“O you of merciful heart, denounce the Veda where the slaughter of animals is taught. O Keshava, you in the form of the Buddha, victory to you, Hari, Lord of the Universe”
– Sri Dashavatara Stotra, Geeta Govinda –
We present a breathtaking creation by one of our most senior craftsmen.
A true master, he has evoked the art of the Gupta era characterised by the deliberate omission of all superfluities, such as elaborate draperies, jewellery to emphasis on the unending and undulating rhythm in the human form. An ideal that is based upon an explicit understanding of the human body in its inherent suppleness accentuated by the transparent clinging drapery that seems less stone and more gossamer.
